one-day course

fruit tree pruning

location: nr Bath, NE Somerset

Gain a thorough understanding of the principles of fruit-tree pruning.  this will be a 'hands-on' course, learning by actually doing the work on the trees under the close supervision of the tutor.

We have 20 different varieties of apples, pears and nuts, and you will work on young trees, mature trees, and some work on soft-fruit pruning -- grapevines and raspberries.  Please bring secateurs, pruning saw, gloves, and weatherproof clothes -- there may be some liquid sunshine!

The tutor is Frank Swindells, who has 35 years' experience in commercial horticulture, propagating and pruning trees.  He has been the Horticulture manager at this venue for the last two years.

dates: Feb 21, Feb 19, Mar 6
