residential weekend course

how to build a biodiesel processor

venue: Redfield Community, Bucks

The course is run by Goldenfuels, who have taught hundreds of people to make biodiesel on courses over the last 5 years. Their plant in Oxford supplies fuel to hundreds of vehicle users.

Learn the principles of good biodiesel equipment design and construction, to produce biodiesel at home or for your business, from waste oils that you are likely to be able to obtain locally in the UK. Have your slice of the UK home-made biodiesel pie!

You can build your own processor on this course, or just come along and learn.

This course complements our how to make biodiesel course, which gives participants a good understanding of the process and lab work that leads to good production. The how to build a biodiesel processor course would be best attended by people who have attended the first course, as the focus on this course is plant design and construction.

Before you book onto this course you should be confident that:

  • you have an understanding of the biodiesel production process
  • you can obtain waste oil cheaply enough to make production viable for you
  • you are a competent, practical DIYer
  • you have mains drainage or a reed bed on your site

On the course we will have an in-depth look at:

  • the design and fabrication of small-scale plant
  • the different kinds of processes to choose from
  • site considerations
  • regulatory compliance
  • titration kits and titration
  • process training on the plant built
  • by-product storage/disposal and soap production

For course prices, see below, and then add:
£757 for the reactor module
£400 for the wash n' dry purification module
£119 for the titration kit
£179 for 205-litre drum of methanol (you must be able to transport the drum in your own vehicle) plus 25kg bag of catalyst
Or - any combination of the above.
Prices are all ex-VAT at 17.5%
You can add these components on the course booking page.
Or - you can come along just to learn, without purchasing any of the above components. You will help others to construct their modules.

For more information about the kit, see our frequently asked questions page.

Participants will receive a copy of our book how to make biodiesel
