From station go over roundabout and up the hill. Take right turn at T junction. Take left turn at roundabout. Keep going until you see entrance to off-road cycle route on right. Follow this track until you take a quick down hill bend to the right that ends in a zebra crossing at traffic lights. Turn right up this road though Forest Row. Take 2nd exit of roundabout down hill. Follow this road till you come to an uphill and find a church on the right with right turn opposite. Take right turn. Follow till T junction. Turn right. Keep going till you get to the top of the hill, view opens out. After getting to Linton’s car park on right, take the next left turn. Signed Spylaws and Windyridge.
by public transport
train to East Grinstead: the easiest except on Sundays when there’s occasional engineering, in which case, use Haywards Heath. Trains from London leave from Victoria (also some from London Bridge). From the station you can take the bus (see below) or you can bike (see above)
buses from East Grinstead:
270 or 291 from Metrobus (check metrobus.co.uk or call 01293 449191 beforehand for times). The 270 runs from East Grinstead towards Haywards Heath: Get off at the Wych Cross bus stop, the driver will tell you where. This is a 20 minuite walk to our drive. 291 goes from E.G. to Tunbridge Wells. Get off at Coleman’s Hatch. That's a mile and a half from our drive. Bus from Haywards Heath: 270 runs from HH to East Grinstead. Get off at Wych Cross (then follow instructions above).
54 from Eastbourne Buses. The 54 goes from East Grinstead to Uckfield, is much less frequent but goes right past the bottom of Windyridge drive. If you or the bus driver knows where the Windyridge drive is, the bus driver will drop you there. If not, ask to get down at the Ashdown Forest Centre, walk in the direction the bus was going (towards Coleman’s Hatch) for about 300 yards until you see a drive on your right with a sign saying Windyridge and Spylaws.
by car
Going south on the A22 from London, go through East Grinstead, then a few miles on through Forest Row. Carry on down the A22 through Forest Row. About 2-3 miles beyond Forest Row is a cross-road called Wych Cross, with some buildings and traffic lights. Take a left here onto the road which you can see on your map leads to Coleman’s Hatch. Look at your milometer and go 1.4 miles down this road until you see a drive on your right with a sign at the bottom saying Windyridge and Spylaws. This is our drive. If you get to the Hatch pub turn round you have gone too far.
Watch out if you are coming to us from the other direction down Coleman’s Hatch Road. It is not possible to see the Spylaw sign from this direction. When you see the Linton’s car park on the right the next turn on the left is ours.
Alternative routes from London, especially East London, include the A2 onto M25, come off at either Westerham or Sevenoaks and come on through Edenbridge and Hartfield to Coleman’s Hatch. Watch out if you are coming to us from this direction. It is not possible to see the Spylaw sign from this direction. When you see the Linton’s car park on the right the next turn on the left is ours.
