introduction to beekeeping

location: nr East Grinstead, Sussex

A one-day course as an introduction to beekeeping.  During the day, you will learn about the management of the honey bee and different types of hives and equipment required for beekeeping. An observation hive will allow close examination of the bees and their queen. After lunch there will be an opportunity to look inside a working hive.  This course will be run by Justin Cleveland-Peck and Lisa Aitken.  This course is open to a maximum of 12 people.

Special Requirements: pair of gloves - either rubber or leather garden gloves, long enough to tuck into a sleeve and boots, preferably Wellingtons and socks. Protective clothing will be provided.  Please wear trousers.
