| Did you know your skin can absorb up to 60% of what you rub on it? Nature offers us a rich source of nutrients with which we can nourish our skin. Natural ingredients are often used in skincare products but by the time a products is bottled and packaged it has often been so refined and preserved that much of the vitality of the original ingredients is lost and you’re just left with a fairly generic white cream full of chemicals. When making your own products you don’t need to use chemicals or preservatives because you can make it fresh to order. Wonderful ingredients such as avocado oil, rosewater, essential oils and shea butter can be blended to create gorgeous creams, balms and lotions that will be like food for your skin and that can also be tailored to be therapeutic as well. This day-long workshop will give you the opportunity to learn more about making your own products as well as actually making some that you can take home at the end of the day, such as:
We will cover what equipment, raw materials and knowledge you will need. During the day you will work in small groups to make these products from scratch and you will be able to take home what you make. Handouts will remind you step-by-step at home what we have covered in class, so you will be able to recreate the processes and the products yourself at home – adapting them to suit your skin and your therapeutic needs. The course is run by Katie Whitehouse and Felicity Scott. Katie is the founder of Vital Touch Ltd, and has been making natural products for over 20 years now. Katie and Felicity will will share their knowledge and experience with you in a fun and accessible way.more
