one-day course

how to make a wood-burner from a gas bottle

venue: Heeley City Farm, Sheffield

This course will teach you how to construct a wood-burning stove out of recycled materials quickly and easily.

Suitable for home, workshop, motor-home, yurt, shed or canal boat. Learn how to design, build and install a strong, effective, durable stove for your own needs.

Gas bottles, for example, can be found at scrap yards, but they can't be crushed or recycled, and if they are old or slightly damaged, can't be returned either. They can be given a new life as a wood-burner though. Stoves can also be made from other reclaimed metal objects.

The course includes:

  • sourcing recycled materials
  • your requirements as regards fuel type: wood, charcoal
  • your requirements as regards useage: heating, cooking
  • your requirements as regards situation: tent, camper-van, workshop etc.
  • design: choose from two types
  • construction
  • installation
  • tools and how to use them

During the course, we will attempt to complete two different kinds of stove.
