During this seven week course (Wednesday evenings) you will be introduced to different methods of cutting and shaping timber using hand tools. You will make a beautiful Oak milking stool, as shown in the photos. The tutor is experienced woodworker, Tom Trimmins. The aim is for you to finish the course feeling comfortable using the tools and feel confident in having a go on your own as the techniques are universal and can be used on any project. The atmosphere is friendly and informal and you will get lots of time to talk ask for help because of the small class size. Everyone works at different paces and I take this into account so dont worry about being left behind or anything like that. Similarly, if you turn out to be a genius woodworker then you can spend more time pimping up your stool with carving etc. You will leave with a milking stool made from beautiful oak by your own hands. If you enjoy the course then there is the option to do an advanced course, the next of which will run in August which involves making a dovetailed cabinet/box. Here is what a past student said about the course: dates: see 'book online' below
