organic gardening


location: nr Machynlleth, Powys

The course will cover a blend of useful, recreational and ecological gardening with sessions on soil fertility, pest control, compost making, growing vegetables and gardening for wildlife.

Suitable for those just starting gardening or converting to organics, this is a relaxed, informative weekend, with (weather permitting) plenty of time spent outside in beautiful gardens.

Course sessions include:

  • good practices in an organic garden
  • propagation – grow new plants, or fruit pruning
  • pests, diseases and weeds – what to do about them
  • garden design – thinking about the whole garden
  • soil fertility and composting methods – giving your plants the best to grow in
  • a look at wildlife on site, and under the microscope
  • extras and requests, eg seed saving, forest gardening, science in the garden
