one-day course

hedgerow walking sticks

venue: the Magdalen Project, Somerset

Whether you prefer a thumbstick, staff or walker, this one-day workshop will enable the uninitiated to identify, season and craft their own personal walking stick.  Using pre-seasoned wood you will straighten, carve and finish a basic, one-piece stick (or two) as well as learn about different handles and finishes.  This is an ideal chance to work with and appreciate the beauty of wood from hedgerows or coppiced woodland.

Course tutor Pete Snelson has worked with wood and nature for many years and uses old and new techniques in his countryside management business.

Please wear suitable outdoor clothing and footwear as this course is based outside.
