venue: the Middlewood Trust, Lancashire

Make a simple slab and stick chair or stool, using a pole-lathe, shave-horse and a few basic hand tools.


The tutor for this course is Isis Rowan, who has been making Welsh stick chairs for 15 years, originally in Wales and now in the French Pyrenees, where she has a small woodland enterprise.

Course runs from 10am to 5pm Saturday and Sunday, and you can arrive Friday evening if you like.

Bring work clothes and stout footwear. Lunch will be provided each day.

Bring your own food for evening meal and breakfast; cooking facilities and cutlery/crockery are available in our bunkhouse.

Bunk house, yurt accommodation, plus camping available. Bring a sleeping bag.
