one-day course

organic vegetable gardening

location: nr Sudbury, Suffolk

This one-day course will help you to grow your own organic vegetables.  Are you concerned about the amount of potentially harmful chemicals sprayed on the fruit and vegetables you buy?  Here is a list of the dirtiest dozen, worst first:  Peach, Apple, Bell Pepper, Celery, Nectarine, Strawberries, Cherries, Kale, Lettuce, Grapes, Carrot, Pear (taken from the Shopper's guide to Pesticides).  Growing your own will help you to avoid some of the daily dosage and will give you tremendous pleasure and satisfaction, and the added and considerable benefits of working outside.

Our tutor Alan Adcock will cover soil types, soil preparation, choice of vegetables, methods of cultivation and will share many of the tips they have learned from two lifetimes of serious gardening.  You can also have a look at our Landshare Scheme for five families, started in 2011 in the old kitchen garden, and see which layout and technique you prefer.
