two day course

willow basket making

location: nr Telford, Shropshire

An introduction to the fascinating, age-old craft of basket making.

This weekend you will work, step by step, through a range of traditional techniques to complete at least one round willow basket with a handle. Suitable for complete beginners or those will some experience.

Your tutor Ted Bruce weaves a wide variety of strong, attractive, functional English willow baskets. Originally self taught, he has since studied with some of the best basket makers in Britain. He is inspired by the beautiful Shropshire countryside in which he has lived and worked for the past 25 years and where he also grows some of his own willow.
