homemade apple juice and cider


location: nr Thornbury, South Gloucestershire

This one day course is aimed at beginners interested in making their own juice, cider or perry. The course is a mixture of theory and practical, with an opportunity to have a go at pressing apples and preparing brews for fermentation. By the end of the course you will have the knowledge and skills to enable you to start your own brews at home.

The day will include:

  • History and traditions involved in making cider and perry
  • Types and use of different ingredients
  • Choice and care of equipment
  • Practical session looking at presses, making apple juice and pasteurising
  • Fermentation & maturation
  • Blending & bottling

In the morning enough juice will be pressed for every participant to try some and we will use some to start making cider.

£80 (adults only). Camping available at £10 per pitch (max 2 people) per night if required
