weekend course (camping)
making rustic furniture |
Learn how to make unique, beautiful, natural items of furniture, crafted by your own hands and straight from the woodland. On this course you will discover how to read trees, learn about their different characteristics and uses, how to get the best from your tools, working with the grain and elegant ways to join wood. Whether a chair for your home or a bench for the garden, every finished work is as unique as the tree it came from.
During the weekend, you will be working on a couple of medium-sized projects, such as outdoor seating. You will learn:
- basic green woodworking skills
- how to use your green woodworking tools safely and effectively (all tools provided)
- where to buy your own tools and what to look for
- which types of wood are good for which purposes
- round mortice and tenon jointing
- how to construct various pieces of rustic furniture
