wild food walk

location: Exeter

Join us for a walk, foraging for edible and useful plants. Walk through picturesque parks and green spaces of Exeter and discover the diversity of edible plants available at this time of year. Dave will point out some little known edibles you may have in your garden and show you what we could eat in an emergency situation.

Whilst we teach very practical knowledge on our forages we do this in a relaxed atmosphere, ensuring that you learn a lot, but also have a really good time. We help you to identify plants that you might see every day and wonder if they are edible or what other uses they may have. Every plant tells a bit of a story and it is this story that helps you remember what the plant can be used for. By the end of the day you will have been taught about somewhere between 50 and 100 plants, and not only their edible and medicinal uses but their history and folklore too.

The foraging walks are ideal for everyone - first-time foragers looking for that extra bit of confidence or experienced foragers looking to increase their repertoire of plant knowledge.

The course is conducted by Dave Hamilton of the wonderful Selfsufficientish website, author of the Selfsufficientish Bible, and forager for the Eden Project.

Sensible walking shoes/boots are strongly advisable. Many people also benefit from bringing waterproof clothing or an umbrella, notepad and camera.
