A small working farm in North Argyll (near Oban) on the West coast of Scotland; breeding Jacob sheep for fleece and meat; converting our land to a permaculture way of producing food and fuel for our sustainability; with our own flock of Black Rock hens, turkeys, muscovy ducks,

jacob lamb in rashesOur Jacob sheep are just beautiful and productive members of our livestock family. We have been breeding for meat and fleeces for several decades; in recent years we have begun to sell mill spun yarn, roving and batts, processed by the lovely small mill in Derbyshire.  When Jill gets the chance to spin herself, there are hanks of hand spun yarn available, unless it has already been hand woven. The meat from our lambs and hoggets is delicious, available from the farm here periodically through the year, and if we get the timing right, we sometimes have sheepskin rugs for sale.

We have a number of ways of earning the pennies to help us continue to look after our lovely farm – as well as other activities that do not earn us anything, but are sharing our interests or skills.
Our Feedstore supplies horse, poultry, smallholder, pet and wild bird feeds for local collection. We also supply bags of peat and Hotmax to keep you warm.

Black Rock hens have been part of our lives for over 25 years; our laying flock is much reduced in numbers these days, but still have delicious Free Range Eggs for Sale daily.
If you are wanting Black Rock pullets, we are an agent for Muirfield Hatchery, and have raised birds free range for even better health & vigour. These days our batches are small, but can also include Brown & Grey Rocks, as well as a great old line of pure Light Sussex. Seasonally we may also have turkeys for rearing for Christmas.

To house your birds, we have been selling our range of hen and duck houses for more than 2 decades : chosen for their great designs for the welfare of the birds, as well as practicality for you. They are all made in the UK; usually to order, and delivered right around the country. These are not cheap flimsy imports, but an affordable long lasting investment for your birds for many many years to come. You are very welcome to call to ask about which design is best for you; we have been helping gardeners and smallholders fit birds into their lives for a long time; and are happy to advise to make your future feathered friends have the best life they can with you.

The Textures and Colours of North Argyll are entrancing, and capturing a few is a passion. If you like the photography on this site, a selection of images are now available for sale as prints and coasters on our Etsy shop. .

As we transition the farm to the permaculture processes and production, we are keen to learn more; so will be hosting courses here open to others : Herb, Seaweed and Forage walks; Introductions to Permaculture / to Forest Gardening / to Lasagne beds / Permaculture Design; Fibre crafts. We are also delighted to welcome Erica Donnison, Alexander Technique, Tellington TTouch Training and Pose Running teacher – she will be visiting us 4 times in 2017.

Kintaline Farm is host of the Ardchattan Parish Archive; which is currently open every Friday afternoon from 2 pm – also any other time by appointment. It is full of books, records, maps, images, with lots yet to explore and learn. You can also join in with the archive on facebook.
