LEAP – Local Energy ADventure Partnership – is a cross-sector partnership seeking to support urban food waste management through the development of small-scale anaerobic digestion. The partnership was first funded by the London Borough of Camden in 2012, and has since been supported by the Technology Strategy Board and WRAP. LEAP includes:

    • The Community Composting Network - instrumental in the development of micro AD in the UK since 2008,
    • Methanogen UK Ltd - 35 years experience in digester design and engineering from large to small scales, founder, James Murcott’s digesters have a combined operational lifespan of 400 years.
    • Guy Blanch - research engineer for Alvan Blanch – manufacturing experts in materials handling including pasteurisation, maceration and liquid/solid separation,
    • Musetopia Enterprises Ltd - assessing the adoption of sustainable commerce over the past 10 years, including biomass, high altitude wind harvesting, pyrolysis, rainforest bond instruments and resource-based pricing.
    • Community by Design – Camden-based community organisation dedicated to a vision of sustainability and community wellbeing.
LEAP's extended partnership for the WRAP demonstration project also included:
    • Mark Walker and Davide Poggio – PhD researchers from Leeds University - currently working on a parallel, multi-University, control focused community-scale microgeneration project – BURD (Bridging the Urban Rural Divide),

There’s a crash coming – a slap from Mother Nature. This isn’t pessimistic; it’s realistic.

The human impact on nature and on each other is accelerating and needs systemic change to reverse.

We’re not advocating poverty, or a hair-shirt existence. We advocate changes that will mean better lives for almost everyone.
