    ABOUT US

Cutting slate using traditonal methodsThe NHTG, is a voluntary organisation responsible for co-ordinating the ongoing development and delivery of traditional building crafts training and qualifications in the heritage sector of the UK. The organisation supports built environment Federations and their members to encourage and improve access to specialist traditional building skills training, in addition to identifying training needs and developing new training solutions with appropriate bodies such as the sector skills council, CITB. NHTG also raises awareness of the importance of heritage craft skills across all sectors – professionals, training providers, clients, contractors, property-owners, volunteers, community groups, heritage organisations, sector skills councils and other support agencies – to try to ensure the continued preservation and sustainable use of traditional buildings. The NHTG runs a telephone helpdesk offering Heritage Building Skills training guidance and information. Got any questions, we'd be happy to help! Call 01246 252 363 or email your query to [email protected].

There’s a crash coming – a slap from Mother Nature. This isn’t pessimistic; it’s realistic.

The human impact on nature and on each other is accelerating and needs systemic change to reverse.

We’re not advocating poverty, or a hair-shirt existence. We advocate changes that will mean better lives for almost everyone.
