Native Hands
Profile:
Woodland Courses in Wild Pottery, Wild Basketry, Bushcraft.
Foraging our crafting materials from the land and hedgerows, courses are held mostly in Sussex woodland (near Lewes). These courses have evolved out of a love of making things in the natural world using natural materials, alongside a deep interest in ancient crafts and technologies. Connecting with nature, ancestral knowledge and keeping traditional skills alive are core aspects of Native Hands.
2022 courses are listed on the Native Hands website.
Course tutor Ruby Taylor is a maker with a wealth of experience, a qualified teacher (with 30 years experience) and lover of the natural world. Appreciated for her clear and patient teaching, her popular courses have a relaxed, inclusive atmosphere. Working in close connection with the seasons, courses are held at the time of year when specific materials are available to harvest and use. This means most courses are only offered once in the year.
Groups are kept small to ensure individual attention. Courses are suitable for beginners as well as those with some experience. Designed for adults but 16-18 year olds are very welcome if accompanied.
