    Sallerton Wood is 10 acres of beautiful mixed deciduous woodland in West Devon, managed and utilized in a sustainable way that also benefits the flora and fauna.

    • It has a wide diversity of habitats including valley-side Ash woodland, Hazel coppice, Alder woodland, and a stream.
    • Traditional management methods such as coppicing are practised, often with local community involvement.
    • It is a place of education for people interested in learning about traditional and sustainable woodland management methods, and the utilization of woodland timber to make craft products.
    • Sallerton Wood offers a range of tutor-led green woodwork courses to make products such as mallets, spatulas, stools, and chairs from green wood. These courses take place in simple workshop shelters within the heart of the woodland itself.
    • The courses currently offered are:1-day Introduction to Green Woodwork Courses
    • 2-day Kuksa Carving Courses
    • 2-day Make a Shave Horse Courses
    • 3-day Stool-making Courses
    • 6-day and 8-day Chair-making Courses
    • Green woodwork and timber-framed products made within Sallerton Wood are also available. Commissions for these are welcomed.
    • Products and commissions currently offered are:Traditional greenwood stools, chairs, and benches.
    • Timber-framed outdoor structures such as woodland shelters, log stores, and sheds.
    • Seasoned Oak pegs for timber-framing.
