    About Steepholding

Steepholding is a tiny off-grid farm of nine acres, leased from the Ecological Land Co-op (ELC) on the border of Devon & Somerset. We grow delicious, seasonal vegetables and fruit for sale through our local veg box scheme and to small independent local businesses. We also produce heritage fruit trees, rare breed meat & eggs. We are WWOOF hosts and we enjoy providing educational opportunities about small scale sustainable farming for children and adults of any age. Ruth: our fruit trees are all hand grafted by me onto certified virus-free rootstock and, unusually for fruit trees, never see any chemical herbicides etc. I also now sell them by post, and pre-innociulated with mychorrizal fungi.

There’s a crash coming – a slap from Mother Nature. This isn’t pessimistic; it’s realistic.

The human impact on nature and on each other is accelerating and needs systemic change to reverse.

We’re not advocating poverty, or a hair-shirt existence. We advocate changes that will mean better lives for almost everyone.
