    JEANETTE GRAY

I am a basket maker living and working in West Wales. Inspired by the landscape, my basketry explores the tension between land use and land rights- the wild next to the cultivated. I gather animal bones, fencing wire and fleece as well as willowbark, grasses, willow and wood to create contemporary forms. I hope my work nudges others to relate, understand and protect the natural environment.

I also offer classes in various traditional and innovative weaving techniques in West Wales, at festivals and around the UK.

I am a member of the Coppice Craft Collective and Basketmaker's Dozen-www.instagram.com/basketmakersdozen/

There’s a crash coming – a slap from Mother Nature. This isn’t pessimistic; it’s realistic.

The human impact on nature and on each other is accelerating and needs systemic change to reverse.

We’re not advocating poverty, or a hair-shirt existence. We advocate changes that will mean better lives for almost everyone.
