    Profile:

Weft Blown is run by Ange Sewell, the Weaver of Scottish Weather. I am a weaver-designer-maker based in West Kilbride, Craft Town Scotland and am constantly inspired by the Scottish weather and it’s effects on the surrounding environment over time. I specialise in creating meteorologically-inspired handwoven textile accessories to wear and for the home and also teach spinning and weaving at both beginner and advanced levels. I also supply weaving and spinning equipment through my website. Weaving my weather inspired designs on my Louet Delta floor loomWeft Blown studio in West Kilbride where you can buy my handwoven creations Spinning and Weaving Classes Passionate about sharing my skills, I teach people of all ages how to weave and spin and create their own handmade items. In doing so I aim to grow the crafts of spinners and weavers across the country, keeping these crafts alive. Classes are based at my studio in West Kilbride and can be booked directly through the website here: spinning and weaving classes. Handwoven Products The Weft Blown studio is a production weaving studio. All products are handwoven using a range of looms and high quality woollen yarns that are primarily sourced from Scottish and British producers. Taking inspiration from the natural world, the handwoven cloth I create in my work has a common theme of encapsulating the colours of the meteorological systems that occur in the skies above. The colours are combined with handwoven textural techniques to show the character of the clouds, wind, precipitation, and light as they changes over time.  Each piece is designed to bring the weather to you in a warm, personal way, whilst also conveying the magnificence of the weather that surrounds us. Weft Blown’s range contains scarves, cowls, cardigans, cushions and badges and is sold through an online store, through my studio, galleries and other retailers. At the Scotland's Trade Fair Spring 2016 my handwoven cowls were awarded Highly Commended in the Best Product in the Launch Gallery Award.

There’s a crash coming – a slap from Mother Nature. This isn’t pessimistic; it’s realistic.

The human impact on nature and on each other is accelerating and needs systemic change to reverse.

We’re not advocating poverty, or a hair-shirt existence. We advocate changes that will mean better lives for almost everyone.
