    About Wildwood Navigation

    Wildwood Navigation provides inspiring Navigation courses with clear, patient instruction and plenty of practice! We operate from bases in Sussex and on the West Coast of Scotland but can always travel to a custom location nearer to you. Wildwood Navigation is a subsidiary organisation of Wildwood Bushcraft.


    Instructor Profiles:

    Leon Durbin Leon is Wildwood Navigation's founder and Chief instructor. He has had a lifelong passion for wild places and their exploration. Leon has built up a broad navigation experience over many years - once a keen orienteerer, he also has many years of mountain walking experience whilst living in Scotland, plus walking experience in Patagonia, Greece, India, California and South Africa. He has been a professional navigation instructor since 2006. Leon holds an NCFE Professional Development Certificate for the Outdoor Industry. The qualification was centred around bushcraft and survival skills but included an advanced Navigation teaching element. On the strength of this he was accepted as a provider of the National Navigation Awards Scheme Bronze Award in 2008. He also holds the Mountain Leader (Summer) award. Leon also has an ITC Level 2 Certificate in Outdoor First Aid.   Jonathan Whymark Jonathan enjoys walking, mountaineering and is a qualified Mountain Leader. He served in the Royal Air Force for seven years before serving in the Fire Service for ten years. Jonathan has the following relevant qualifications:
    • Basic Expedition Leader Award
    • Mountain Leader (Summer)
    • CRB Enhanced Disclosure
    • Leave No Trace Trainer
    • Level 2 Certificate in Outdoor First Aid
    He has taken part in expeditions all over the world. This includes canoeing expeditions in the UK, Sweden and Canada and walking expeditions in Africa, Sweden, Spain, Morroco. He has also helped to deliver humanitarian aid to war zones. Jonathan's approach means that not only will learn a lot, but you'll also have fun.
