    Profile:

There are a few of us who live in the woodland full time, with other makers coming periodically to teach and share skills throughout the year.

As a collective we enjoy the space of the workshop on a daily basis - each of us working in different areas or crafts, sharing meals and taking care of the facilities. New Ideas are constantly helping to form the place - recently we planted a little fruit orchard and started to grow vegetables. We are grateful to be able to share this space and knowledge with others.

    COURSES

All courses are held at my woodland workshop in the beautiful Herefordshire hills just outside Bromyard. The workshop is completely secluded in a woodland that overlooks the Malverns, you can immerse yourself in the task at hand, enjoy open fire cooking and wake up with the birds singing. We have cabins, benders, camping pitches and a yurt available to stay in, all built into the woodland around the workshop. Please see here for accommodation information.

All tools and materials will be provided, tuition will usually run from around 9.30am to 5pm with plenty of tea and coffee throughout the day.

Breakfast of porridge, muesli, fruit or toast and eggs is self service, a simple vegetarian lunch will be provided, and in the evening we usually operate a kitty system and course members take it in turn to cook their favorite meal. If you don't fancy cooking there is always the washing up to help with!

    THE BOWL GATHERING

The Bowl Gathering is a small green woodworking festival in celebration of the wooden bowl. We have a range of experienced instructors and demonstrators coming from around the UK and abroad.

The Bowl Gathering will be a chance to meet and share skills with some of the best bowl turners around, there will be daily workshops in turning on lathes, and carving bowls with adzes and gouges. There will also be forging courses and demonstrations, helping folk to gain the skills needed to make their own tools. Children are welcome, and there will be kids workshops throughout the weekend.

There’s a crash coming – a slap from Mother Nature. This isn’t pessimistic; it’s realistic.

The human impact on nature and on each other is accelerating and needs systemic change to reverse.

We’re not advocating poverty, or a hair-shirt existence. We advocate changes that will mean better lives for almost everyone.
