Join the Land Justice Network national gathering on 18 August in Sheffield

The Land Justice Network national gathering is your chance to learn about their work campaigning for land reform and to together help plan next steps. Formerly ‘Land for What?’, the network brings together groups, individuals and networks who recognise the need to change the way land is owned, used, distributed and controlled in the UK. Over to them to tell us all about it.

You’re invited to the Land Justice Network’s next national gathering to find out what the we’ve all been up to and plot fresh action together.

It will take place on Saturday 18th August at Heeley City Farm, Richards Road, Sheffield, S2 3DT. We’ll meet up 12 noon for a shared pot luck (bring a dish if you can) and we’ll start the meeting around 12.30, finishing at 5pm with optional social time at a nearby pub afterwards. The venue is fully accessible for wheelchairs. The gathering will include a visit to REACH Homes a project based at the farm which has designed genuinely affordable homes for £35k.

On Sunday 19th August all are welcome to join us for a walk in the Peak District – we are hoping to meet some of those affected by the recent fires on Saddleworth Moor, connected to the mismanagement of moors for grouse shooting. We are also inviting along Hebden Bridge residents who were badly affected by the flooding a few years back, also connected to mismanagement of land for grouse.

If you are interested in coming for both days and need to sort somewhere to stay overnight on Saturday night, please drop us an email at [email protected] as we may be able to help. Please also get in touch if you are able to offer a lift and/or particularly need support with travel costs or require a creche for your child on the Saturday.

We look forward to seeing you there but, before you go, here’s a short video of a previous get together in London in 2016 to whet your appetite.

And if you’d like to learn more about our work in general, this one’s for you.

You can keep up to date with all Land Justice Network news and events via their website and mailing list. For more about why land reform is so important, head on over to our land reform topic introduction.

    We welcome questions.

There’s a crash coming – a slap from Mother Nature. This isn’t pessimistic; it’s realistic.

The human impact on nature and on each other is accelerating and needs systemic change to reverse.

We’re not advocating poverty, or a hair-shirt existence. We advocate changes that will mean better lives for almost everyone.
