Market gardening and working horses: help co-create a new enterprise in Devon

Market gardening and working horses: help co-create a new enterprise in Devon

Our network members Ben and Lorraine of Forest Crafts are hoping to find one or two people to help them develop a new business involving market gardening, working horses and working alongside volunteers. It’s a great opportunity for the right person / people.

Over to Ben for more info:

As we start to think about our plans for 2022 we are looking for someone (or two) to join us as partners in our New Market Garden enterprise.

We have the land, facilities, a lot of equipment and some know how and experience – what we are lacking is time.

We are experienced WWOOF and HELPX hosts and usually welcome several helpers through the growing season so we will be looking for someone to work alongside volunteers and able to steer and demonstrate growing techniques to a small team of helpers.

This is an opportunity for a reliable, trustworthy, energetic and enthusiastic person or couple to create with us a small profitable business with sound eco credentials and huge lifestyle rewards.

We are located on the outskirts of Hatherleigh, Devon in close proximity to Dartmoor and some stunning unspoilt countryside.

We are lucky to be situated in a fairly remote location so a means of transport will be essential.

Our farm is traditional, mostly grassland grazed by our Ruby Devon cattle, using our shire horses on the land and in the surrounding woods as much as possible.

We do not expect or require any horse experience – just an enthusiasm for sharing our farming ideals.

For the right person or couple we have the space to accommodate a living wagon (or similar) on site thus allowing for complete immersion into a new and exciting lifestyle.

You will need to be energetic and enthusiastic with a keen ability to exploit this small business potential.

We look forward to hearing from you. In the first instance please contact Ben May on 01837 811123

    We welcome questions.

There’s a crash coming – a slap from Mother Nature. This isn’t pessimistic; it’s realistic.

The human impact on nature and on each other is accelerating and needs systemic change to reverse.

We’re not advocating poverty, or a hair-shirt existence. We advocate changes that will mean better lives for almost everyone.
