Low-impact food & drink - magazines

Locavore

Locavore is an editorial-led magazine, defined by beautiful photography and intelligent writing. Firmly based in the British Isles, we’ll also roam the world for the best local food stories and the most inspiring people. Locavore will explore how food is found, grown, prepared and served. We’ll meet foragers, farmers, artisans, teachers and cooks, and learn about their ideas and what motivates them. We’ll discover flavour, variety, method, tradition and ritual. We’ll look at community projects, networks and campaigns, and investigate the science and effects of modern agriculture and production. We’ll explore food philosophies that put the land, consumer and animal first and contrast these with a globalised food system that homogenises taste and commodifies nature.  And we’ll examine food security and sovereignty within a changing climate.

The Preserve Journal

Our magazine’s goal is to inspire, to engage, and to create an inclusive dialog across different and various fields, while continuously asking how we as a global community can create, nourish, and maintain a sustainable food culture. We hope to contribute to the global conversation on this subject. After all, today’s most pressing problems require solutions based on inter-cultural cooperation. We therefore hope to allow people to connect across borders and cultures in a quest to share old wisdom and novel ideas on how our engagement with food can help us establish the grounds for a more sustainable existence on this planet.

There’s a crash coming – a slap from Mother Nature. This isn’t pessimistic; it’s realistic.

The human impact on nature and on each other is accelerating and needs systemic change to reverse.

We’re not advocating poverty, or a hair-shirt existence. We advocate changes that will mean better lives for almost everyone.
