Ethical Consumer

Ethical Consumer Magazine is an indispensable read for the ethical and green shopper, or any independent thinker. From banks to baked beans it tells the truth behind the products we buy and the companies we buy them from, with detailed buyer’s guides, news, in-depth features, opinion and comment, boycott updates, readers’ letters, and much more. Detailed ratings tables compare the social and environmental impacts of a brand and the records of the companies behind them.  Plus, all buyer’s guides contain price comparison information so you can compare brands on price as well as ethics. The magazine is produced by ECRA – a not-for-profit, multi-stakeholder co-operative, dedicated to the promotion of universal human rights, environmental sustainability and animal welfare.



Adbusters is a not-for-profit organisation and the magazine is entirely ad-free. Based in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, Adbusters is a not-for-profit, reader-supported, 60,000-circulation magazine concerned about the erosion of our physical and cultural environments by commercial forces. Our work has been featured in hundreds of alternative and mainstream newspapers, magazines, and television and radio shows around the world. Adbusters offers incisive philosophical articles as well as activist commentary from around the world addressing issues ranging from genetically modified foods to media concentration. In addition, our annual social marketing campaigns like Buy Nothing Day and Digital Detox Week have made us an important activist networking group.


There’s a crash coming – a slap from Mother Nature. This isn’t pessimistic; it’s realistic.

The human impact on nature and on each other is accelerating and needs systemic change to reverse.

We’re not advocating poverty, or a hair-shirt existence. We advocate changes that will mean better lives for almost everyone.
