    About Us

Robinson Polytunnels are manufacturers and suppliers of polytunnels and fruit cages throughout the UK, one of the only polytunnel companies who actually manufacture all their fittings as well as the steel frameworks. Based in Lancashire, close to the Pennines, we are fully aware of what is required of a polytunnel to protect your crops from the worst of the British weather. The business is run from the family farm where we are able to put our polytunnels to the test in real life situations. Stuart Robinson, the founder of the company and General Manager, has many years experience in the design of polytunnels and was employed at Northern Polytunnels for 13 years, predominantly in the role of Technical Manager. His expertise, coupled with post-graduate study in Structural Steel Design, has enabled Robinson Polytunnels to take the best features of "commercial" polytunnels and make them available to domestic growers in our optimal designed polytunnel range.
    Made To Last

    Made To Last

Our polytunnels are built to last in every respect. We use high-strength (Z35) pre-galvanised steel for the hoops, ridge tubes, corner struts and crop/tie bars. For our ranges of 6ft, 8ft, 10ft and 12ft spans we use 25.4mm diameter tube and for our 12ft Ultra and 14ft polytunnels we use 38.1mm diameter tube. The wall thickness of the tube is also 1.5mm. This may not sound very much but when you compare this to some of the other leading polytunnel manufacturers who use 1.2mm wall thickness, it's clear to see that we do not cut corners. An important aspect of all polytunnels, the foundation tubes are made from heavily galvanised thick-wall tube to ensure that they cope well with the particularly corrosive environment encountered in wet ground. We don't want any weak links in our polytunnels! We supply timber for the polytunnel end frames, base rails and side rails, 3 ½" x 1 ½" (89mm x 38mm) tanalith treated - and these are actual sizes. The timber rails also have "eased" edges for a more elegant finish and much nicer to work with. The battens are also tanalith treated 1 ½" x ¾" - more substantial than many of our competitors use and essential to hold your cover securely in place. Virtually all of our polytunnel and fruit cage fittings are galvanised instead of electro-plated. This gives much improved protection against corrosion. Just one more of the measures we've taken to ensure your polytunnel or fruit cage lasts as long as possible.

    We also make fruit cages

We also supply Fruit Cage Kits which are made from the same high-strength steel as our 'tunnels. Our Fruit Cage Fittings are "rounded" which make it easier to pull on the top netting without it snagging. A range of accessories is available to complement your polytunnel or fruit cage. Polythene, Netting and Spare Parts are all available from stock, as are our range of Raised Bed Kits and Cloche Hoop Kits. We also offer a range of tools to build your polytunnel - we think of everything to make the job easier!
    Use Your Polytunnel

    Use Your Polytunnel

At Robinson Polytunnels we're here to provide you with an opportunity to successfully grow your own fruit and vegetables. We want to supply you with one of our quality polytunnels to enable you to create the right growing environment for your valued produce. You can grow just about anything inside a polytunnel - as long as it's legal ! Tomatoes, lettuce and cucumber for a crisp fresh salad. Peppers, courgettes and basil for a summer Mediterranean dish. Melon or strawberries for a refreshing dessert. The benefits of growing under cover are obviously protection from wet and windy weather. But, your plants will also stay at a more comfortable temperature and humidity, particularly if you opt for a side ventilation kit, thus increasing the quality and quantity of your crop. With a polytunnel you also get vastly improved pest control, particularly from birds, slugs and insects.
